knitting again

Autumn is officially right around the corner and it definitely feels like it with the cooler weather. I've picked up knitting again, going to make a second scarf but this time using the knit and pearl stitches. Are they called stitches? Anyways, above is the yellow scarf I made last winter, it's a bit too short but it still works. I was smart this time and purchased two skeins so the scarf will be long enough. I'm using the same Merino yarn but in blue. I like how it is coming out so far.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a bad bout with food poisoning and was bedridden much of the weekend. I'm so much better now though but boy it wiped me out. No clam chowder for me in the near future. :(

  2. All I can knit are scarves too! I'm going to maybe try a matching hat once I finish this scarf.

  3. I didn't think I could manage anything more complex than a scarf, but have successfully finished two hats and an obi-style belt in a basketweave pattern. If you just take it slowly and really pay attention to the pattern, you can do it. I found "Teach Yourself Visually: Knitting" to be a really great guide as it has actual color photos of all the techniques. There's now a second edition out:

I learned how to decrease and increase to make the hat and belt with the help of that book and another called "Ready Set Knit", which may be out of print:

Also give a try to knitting with circular needles; you can easily knit a cowl scarf/infinity scarf on them and get a knit/purl stitch look from only doing one type of stitch in the round.
    Have fun, and good luck!

  5. Thanks Jennifer for your awesome advice. I'll have to check out those books. And I am feeling so much better now, I have finally got my appetite back which took a few days. :)
