Spools of thread are wonderfully colorful and industrious, but hey, who said they need only be used for sewing? Here are some trés cool spool-inspired art!
The two photos above were found on skujeniece.com , a design studio in Amsterdam. The vases are so simple and pretty.
This picture is of writer Douglas Coupland's home which I found on Roseland Greene. I like this a lot, I'm a sucker for a clean white palette and lots of bits of color all neat in a row.
And speaking of being all neat in a row, artist Devorah Sperber created this commissioned work in 2009 which is currently (hopefully still) hanging behind the front desk of the Fashion 26 Hotel in NYC. It is entitled After Mondrian (Fashion 26), measures 59.5" x 59.5" and consists of 1632 spools of thread. Pretty awesome, no?
